ABOUT THE ARTIST

MADISON DOMANSKI (she/her) is a dancer, choreographer, and mentor currently based and studying dance at The George Washington University in Washington DC. She has trained in multiple dance styles consisting of modern, contemporary, ballet, jazz, and hip hop. Originally from Detroit, Michigan, she grew up training with the local professional dance company, Eisenhower Dance Detroit in their pre-professional company and summer intensives. Other summer intensive credits include: Complexions Contemporary Ballet, Cincinnati Ballet, Urbanity Dance, Grand Rapids Ballet, Regional Dance America’s National Choreography Intensive, and Amsterdam’s Henny Jurriens Studio this coming summer. At these intensives, she has performed works by Dwight Rhoden, Christian Denice, Norbert De La Cruz III, Wendell Gray II, Stephanie Pizzo, Hanna Brictson, among others. With floorwork being one of her specialties, she trained with Los Angeles based project, Ground Grooves, on their online platform to refine her technique in this area to then expand on while training with them in person in Amsterdam.

Madison’s strong yet fluid movement vocabulary translates into everything she does, including choreography. Through her creative process, she aims to push the boundaries on what it means to interact on stage, both with one another and the space, all the while making sure to showcase human connection and experience. As an artist she aims to draw audiences in with either her movement or the vocabulary she is given as a performer through open storytelling. Recently, she has been focusing on audience participation in public spaces and how to “guide” them through a performance they may not have known they were walking into. Inspired by the multifaceted world we live in, she values collaboration with other artists while generating movement along with her dancers to present work that is authentically individualized to them yet overall showcases a collective.
